Camila Toro was raised in Bogotá, Colombia, born to a Colombian father and a Mexican-American mother.

Camila is currently a freshman at Yale University, where she is concentrating in the majors of Global Affairs and Economics. In 2016, Camila graduated from The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut, where she served as School President.

She decided to take a Gap Year before Yale to live in different parts of the world with a focus on language study and cultural immersion. She lived in Riga, Latvia and St. Petersburg, Russia for the first half of her gap year where she studied in a language school and lived with a host family. The second semester she lived in Shanghai, China, studying intensive mandarin and traveling across Asia.

Growing up, Camila swam competitively and participated in several National Competitions and came in second and third place. She later became captain of the Girls Varsity Swim Team at Hotchkiss as well as the captain for Girls Varsity Water-Polo. She currently swims for Yale’s Club Swim Team.

Camila is extremely passionate about different languages, cultures, and international policy. She is involved with the International Student Organization and the Colombian students Club at Yale, and can’t wait to work in a place where she can use her languages to make a difference in international affairs.
