Federico Hoyos es un politólogo colombiano nacido en Medellín, Antioquia el 30 de noviembre de 1985. A sus 32 años es uno de los congresistas más jóvenes de Colombia.
Su primer acercamiento con la política se dio mientras estudiaba su bachillerato en el Colegio Granadino de Manizales, siempre tuvo una facilidad por las áreas sociales y humanidades y además escribía para la revista del colegio sobre temas de guerras.
Estudió Ciencias Políticas en la Universidad EAFIT en la ciudad de Medellín y en cuarto semestre decidió empezar un blog que compartía con sus amigos a través de Facebook. Cautivados por su blog, el periódico El Colombiano, lo invitó a escribir para ellos, ahí trabajó por más de un año y alcanzó a ser columnista titular. Continuó su aprendizaje con una especialización en Estudios Políticos Avanzados, en el Instituto Phoenix de la Universidad de Notre Dame.
En 2013, trabajó como profesor de marketing político tanto en EAFIT como en la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. Durante ese mismo año ocupó el puesto de asesor político en la campaña del actual alcalde de Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez. Después de esto fundó su propio consultorio político y fue galardonado por Victory Awards como el nuevo Mejor Consultor Político en Colombia.
Empezó a enviar sus columnas de opinión al correo del ex presidente Álvaro Uribe Vélez, éste a veces le respondía y le hacía sugerencias. Después, Hoyos empezó a escribir en el periódico El Tiempo y para el 2014 los miembros del partido Centro Democrático junto con el ex presidente Uribe lo invitaron a hacer parte de la lista cerrada a la Cámara de Representantes por Antioquia, en las elecciones legislativas, donde ganó y se convirtió en el Representante más joven de su partido.
Como miembro de la Comisión Segunda de la Cámara de Representantes, ya es autor de dos proyectos de Ley, uno para promover la movilidad sostenible a través de incentivar con beneficios a los conductores de vehículos eléctricos, donde su misión es contribuir a la sostenibilidad del medio ambiente. Y otro que se refiere a la rendición de informes anualmente sobre el desarrollo, avance y consolidación de los Tratados de Libre de Comercio ratificados por Colombia.
Federico ha organizado y liderado múltiples debates sobre problemáticas como la inseguridad en su ciudad, Medellín, la construcción de paz, el pos conflicto, la migración masiva de venezolanos a la frontera, la relación entre acceso a Internet y desarrollo y la importancia de la innovación en Colombia.

Federico Hoyos is a Colombian politician born in Medellin, Antioquia on November 30, 1985. At age 32 he is one of the youngest members of the Colombian Congress.
His first approach to politics dates back to his high school, Colegio Granadino de Manizales. He always had an interest in social studies and humanities, and used to write for the school´s magazine about wars.
He went in to study Political Science at EAFIT University in the city of Medellin and in his fourth semester he started writing a blog that he´d share with friends via Facebook. Captivated by his writing, El Colombiano, a local newspaper invited him to write for them, there he worked for over a year and escalated to head columnist. He continued his education with an Specialization in Advanced Social Political and Economic Studies at the Phoenix Institute in the University of Notre Dame.
In 2013, he worked as a political marketing professor at both EAFIT and Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. During that same year he served as a political advisor in Federico Gutierrez´s campaign, current major of Medellin. After that he founded his own political consulting firm and has been awarded as the new Best Political Consultant in Colombia.
He started mailing his columns to the former Colombian president Álvaro Uribe Vélez, who would often reply and make him suggestions. Later on, Hoyos started writing for El Tiempo, one of the most important newspapers in Colombia and by 2014 the members of El Partido Centro Democrático, as well as ex president Uribe himself, invited him to be a part of the closed list for the House of Representatives in Antioquia in the legislative elections where he won and became the youngest Representative at his party.
As a member of the Second Commission of the House of Representatives, he is the author of two law projects, one to promote sustainable mobility to incentivize drivers of electric vehicles with benefits, where his mission is to contribute to the environment, and a second one that seeks to guarantee the revision and accountability of free trade agreements in Colombia.
Federico has organized and lead multiple debates about different problematic such as insecurity in his hometown Medellin, peace construction, the post-conflict era, massive migration of Venezuelans to the frontier, the relationship between Internet Access and development, and the importance of innovation in Colombia.
